Below Content Area

The "Below Content Area Block" refers to the area below the content that is displayed in the main "Content Area block". You can use this area to add cool design effect styles to your content area. In this tutorial, we'll look specifically at the settings available in the Below Content Area Block option panel, including how to set the height of the area that appears below the Content Area Block and how to set background colors and images to fill this area.

Content Area Block

The "Content Area Block" is the area of your WordPress theme where your site content, such as posts, are displayed. The various display settings that apply to this overall block are accessed through the Content Area Block option panel. In this tutorial, learn how to use these settings to adjust the layout, background, border, CSS3 effects of the block, and how to set the content area to show or hide depending on which pages of your WordPress site are being viewed.

Featured Strip Block

The Featured Strip is designed to be used as an area of your theme where you can display featured content. The options that control the way the Featured Strip behaves are accessed through the Featured Strip Settings > Featured Strip Block options panel. In this tutorial we'll cover these options, including how to manually set your Featured Strip height, backgrounds, border, CSS3 design effects, and how to show or hide the featured area from specific pages.

Featured Strip Posts

This tutorial covers the options available in the Featured Strip Settings > Featured Strip Posts options panel. This is the panel from which settings can be applied to the actual posts that appear within the featured strip area. We'll cover how to set the number of posts appearing in the featured strip, how to set the number of featured strip post columns, controlling featured column widths, and setting featured post backgrounds, borders, and CSS3 design effects.

Posting Featured Strip Content

Once you've set up your Featured Strip Block you'll want some featured posts to appear in it. ThemeStarta's WYSIWYG preview editor will give you a sample of how your featured post content will appear, but it won't show you your actual content. In this overview of posting featured content, we discuss how the featured area uses "Featured Strip" custom post types, the instances in which it doesn't, and how to publish featured content. Remember, you'll need to preview your real content outside of the theme editor!

Post Outside Slider

The Spotlight block is specifically designed to accommodate a slideshow (the "slider") capable of displaying any type of content, however you don't have to fill the Spotlight area with just a slideshow. Instead, you can resize the slider and reposition it to create space for additional content outside of the slider. In this tutorial we cover how to use the "Post Outside Slider" option panel to customize the display of the content you want to display in the spotlight area alongside your slideshow.

To make content that appears in the slider (slideshow) as easy to navigate as possible, ThemeStarta provides two configurable slider navigation options: Slider Buttons and Slider Arrows. You can choose to display one, both or neither of these slider navigation tools. In this tutorial, we'll cover the method specifically related to Slider Arrows. Using the "Slider Arrows" option panel, learn how to upload your own slider arrow images and/or set slider arrow images to show or hide.

Slider Buttons are one of two navigation methods available to help users take manual browsing control of slider content without having to wait for slide transitions (the other being Slider Arrows). In this tutorial, we'll cover the method specifically related to Slider Buttons using the "Slider Buttons" option panel, including how to upload your own slider button images and/or set slider buttons to show or hide.

Slider Captions

ThemeStarta's slider includes in-built caption overlay functionality for displaying custom captions on each of your slideshow slides. The caption itself is typically added when you add your post content through the WordPress admin dashboard using the "Enter the Slider Caption Overlay Text" field, but it is through the Spotlight Settings > Slider Caption options panel that you control how the caption displays. In this tutorial, we'll cover how to customize the slider caption background and all text (including text links) that appear in it.

Slider

ThemeStarta's slider provides you in-built functionality for displaying slideshows of your content in the Spotlight block of your custom WordPress theme. Options for customizing how your slider displays are found in the Spotlight Settings > Slider options panel. In this tutorial, we'll cover these options which include setting your slider to a full or fixed height and width, controlling slider spacing, auto resizing slider images, customizing the slider background, border, text and links, and setting the speed and type of slider transition.
