Introduction
The Theme General Options and Backgrounds options panel is where you can alter a number of settings that affect aspects of your theme that are not specifically isolated to individual blocks:

This tutorial looks specifically at the options available when you click the Theme General Options and Backgrounds > Default Text & Heading Settings bar, where you can alter:
- Regular text default font: The font, size and text line height of any regular text throughout your theme.
- Headings 1-6: The default font, size and color and position attributes of any text you apply h1, h2, h3, h4 or h5 tags to.
Note: All changes made to your regular default text and headings can be viewed in the Content Area Settings preview area.
Regular Text Default Font

To change the default text font in your theme:
1. The current default font is displayed in the Default font field. In the above example “Arial” is the current default font.
To change it, click
. You will see a preview of the fonts that are available to you:

Note: You can add hundreds of additional fonts using the Google Fonts Tutorial. Any Google Font you make available will be displayed in the above preview.
2. Hover your cursor over the font you want to use (the font will turn red). Click on the font to select it. The preview window will close and the font you selected will be listed as the Default Font.

The above example shows the original Arial default font has been replaced with Verdana.
3. If you want to change the default size of your font, type the size you want your default text to display in the Default font size field.
4. If you want to change the line height that you default text will appear in, type the line height size in the Default text line height field. The two methods of specifying text line height are:
- As a percentage of the height of your text. The height of the line your text is displayed in will be calculated using a percentage multiplier of the default height of your text. Note that you don’t need to specify a %. If you do not specify the value in this field as a pixel value (see the next bullet point) then ThemeStarta will automatically treat any value in this field as a percentage.
- As a pixel (px) value. The height of the line your text is displayed is matched exactly to the value specified when you follow the value with a px. For example, if the value you type in this field is specified as 18px ThemeStarta will apply a line height value of exactly 18 pixels to each line your default text appears on.
5. Click
to apply the change in the ThemeStarta preview.
6. Click

5. If you want to add margin spacing above or below your heading, type the value in pixels of the space you would like into the Heading 1 Top Margin and/or the Heading 1 Bottom Margin fields.
